Color is one of those things that homeowners don't always think about until they see the difference. The right shingle color ties the whole exterior of a home together - it can make a brick and siding home look sharp and intentional, or it can just kind of blend into the background. Owens Corning's Duration Peppercorn does the former. Every time.
We installed a full roof on this home using Owens Corning Duration shingles in Peppercorn. It's a cool-toned charcoal gray with just enough variation in the granule pattern to give the roof depth and dimension. Against gray siding and red brick, it reads bold without being over the top. That's a hard balance to strike, and Peppercorn nails it.
The Duration line is one of our go-to recommendations for good reason. These are architectural shingles - thicker, heavier, and more durable than standard 3-tab shingles. They're built with Owens Corning's SureNail Technology, which means the fastener strip gives installers a wider nailing zone and a stronger hold. That matters a lot when wind gets involved. Less chance of lifting, less chance of blow-offs.
Beyond the shingles themselves, we also ran ridge cap along the peak and installed a vented ridge system that lets the attic breathe properly. Attic ventilation is one of the most overlooked parts of a roof installation - but it directly affects how long your shingles last and how efficient your home runs. We don't skip that step.
The finished roof speaks for itself. Clean lines from ridge to eave, consistent shingle alignment across every slope, and a color that genuinely complements the home. If you've been putting off a roof replacement, this is what good work looks like up close.
