The tear-off phase is where a roof replacement either gets done right or gets cut short. We strip everything down to the deck - every layer, every old shingle - before a single piece of new material goes on. It takes more time and more labor, but it's the only way to actually know what you're working with underneath.

What we found when we pulled the old layers back was exactly why this step matters. Stacking new shingles on top of worn-out ones might look fine from the street, but it traps problems underneath and shortens the life of your new roof before it even gets broken in. A clean deck is a strong start.

We use heavy-duty catch systems along the roofline to keep debris off the lawn and landscaping while the crew works up top. The whole yard stays protected from the moment we start pulling shingles until the last bag gets cleaned up at the end of the day. That's just how we run a job site.

Once the tear-off is done and the deck is inspected, we're finishing this one with Owens Corning Duration shingles in teak. Duration shingles are one of the better performers on the market - built with SureNail technology that gives them serious wind resistance and a long track record of holding up through tough weather seasons.

If your roof is already showing wear - curling edges, missing granules, shingles that are just tired - now is a good time to get eyes on it before storm season puts it to the test. A replacement done right from the start is always a better outcome than chasing leaks after the damage is done.
